We are thrilled to launch the 2025 Art Prize, “Prix Yves Hernot”
A celebration of creativity, expression, and talent! Open to all artists working in Painting, Drawing, Photography, Sculpture, and Mixed Media, this is a unique opportunity to showcase your work, gain recognition, and compete for exciting prizes.
Theme of the Year: Bonjour tomorrow
Let your creativity transport us into the future! How do you envision France a century from now—its landscapes, people, culture, language, or daily life? This thought-provoking theme invites bold interpretations and imaginative perspectives.
Whether you're an emerging or established artist, we invite you to be part of this vibrant cultural event.
Competition Details
- Categories: Open to all forms of visual art.
- Age: The competition is open to all ages.
- Participation: Both amateurs and professionals are welcome.
How to Participate
- Registration: Submit your completed registration form by August 22, 2024, 12 pm.
- Submission of Works: All works must be submitted by August 22, 2024, 12 pm.
- Exhibition and Award Ceremony: All works will be exhibited at Alliance française premises, 61-63 Scott Street, Newcastle, where winners will be announced and awarded.
Prizes
The prizes, generously offered by our donor, Yves Hernot and Alliance française de Newcastle include:
- 1st Prize: $500(Adult prize) /$150(Youth prize)
- 2nd Prize: $250(Adult prize)/$100(Youth prize)
The 1st and 2nd prizes are discerned and generously offered by our donor, Yves Hernot.
- 3rd Prize: French goodies and Double Cinema Tickets for French Movies organised by Alliance française Newcastle.
The third prizes will be decided by popular vote. An urn will be placed in the art gallery for visitors to cast their votes for their favourite artworks.

- Opening and Youth prize announced: Saturday 24 August 2024 – 4.30 pm
- Opening and Adult prize announced: Saturday 24 August 2024 – 6 pm
Exhibition Open
- Friday 23 August 2024 from 3 pm to 7 pm
- Saturday 24 August 2024 from 9 am to 7 pm
DELIVERY OF WORKS
Artworks can be delivered to Alliance Française, 61-63 Scott street Newcastle on the following days and times. Please send us an email when you would like to drop your artwork:
- Mondays between 6 pm and 8 pm.
- Tuesdays between 9.30 am and 3 pm or between 6 pm and 8 pm.
- Wednesdays between 6 pm and 8 pm.
- Thursdays between 9.30 am and 3 pm or between 6 pm and 8 pm.
- Saturday between 9 am and 11.30 am.
$10 for members/per artwork
$15 for non-members/per artwork
Free for the Youth Art prize (-18 yrs old)
