Beginners

  • This is a year-long course subdivided into four terms of 9 weeks.
  • No previous knowledge of French is required.
  • Material required
    • Material to take notes during the class
    • The textbook available for purchase with the Alliance de Newcastle when enrolling to the course.
    • Weekly lessons/notes are sent by e-mail by the teacher
  • Work required from students between classes: Weekly homework and/or revise the work done in class.

Continuing Beginners

  • This is a year-long course subdivided into four terms of 9 weeks.
  • Students wishing to enrol in this course should have completed the beginners course or equivalent.
  • Material required for the course:
    • Material to take notes during the class
    • Textbook - available for purchase with the Alliance de Newcastle when enrolling to the course.
    • Weekly notes/lessons are sent via e-mail by the teacher.                                               
  • Work required from students between classes: Weekly homework and/or revise the work done in class.

Elementary

  • This is a year-long course subdivided into four terms of 9 weeks.
  • Knowledge of  French required: Students wishing to enrol in this course should have completed the Continuing beginners course or equivalent.
  • Material required for the course:
    • Weekly lessons are sent via e-mail.
    • Textbook - available for purchase with the Alliance de Newcastle when enrolling to the course.
  • Work required from the student between classes: Some weekly homework will be given

Intermediate 1

  • The Intermediate 1 course is a  year-long course subdivided into four terms of 9 weeks.
  • To enrol in this course, students should have completed the Elementary course or equivalent.
  • Material required for the course:
    • Material to take notes during the class
    • Textbook - available for purchase with the Alliance de Newcastle when enrolling to the course.
    • Weekly notes/lessons are sent via e-mail by the teacher.                                               
    Work required from students between classes: Weekly homework and/or revise the work done in class.

Intermediate 2

  • The Intermediate 2 course is a  year-long course subdivided into four terms of 9 weeks
  • To enrol in this course, students should have completed the Intermediate 1 course or equivalent.
  • Weekly notes are sent by the teacher.

    • Textbook - available for purchase with the Alliance de Newcastle when enrolling to the course.

Advanced

  • This is a year-long course subdivided into four terms of 9 weeks
  • Students wishing to enrol in this course should have completed the Intermediate course or equivalent
  • Material required for the course:
    • Material to take notes in class
    • The textbook - Available for purchase with the Alliance de Newcastle when enrolling to the course.
    • Weekly notes supplied by the teacher
  • Work required from students between classes: Weekly homework and/or revise the work done in class.

Français Renforcé

« Français Renforcé' is NOT a standard class following a textbook. It relies
instead on sharing the individual exploration of the news, readings, video watching, personal experiences, etc and is complemented by articles and activities extracted mainly from Bien-dire magazine.

This class is based on themes from magazines and other resources.

  • Length of course: It is a 9 weeks course, each class goes for 2 hours.
  • Knowledge of  French required: Advanced
  • Material required for the course: Subscription to the Bien-Dire Magazines
  • Work required from the student between classes: Revisions or reading material


  • Available Courses: 1

    Conversational French

    « Conversational French » is an informal group discussion. Each week, you will speak about various topics in French with other students and a native teacher.

    It is not like a "standard" class but a discussion group.

    • Length of course: It is a 8 weeks course, each class goes for 1h30.
    • Knowledge of  French required: Elementary level is a minimum.
    • Material required for the course: None
    • Work required from the student between classes: None
